The American Club on Wisconsin's Lake Michigan shoreline is synonymous with excellent golf, of course, but for a few years now the resort has been getting serious about feeding a passion that for many people rivals that of the Scottish game itself. That would be chocolate, of course! The Holiday Trio summons deep-seated sense memories of the festive season, with bright flavors like peppermint, cranberry, caramel and cloves packed into smooth milk chocolate shells. These are one-bite delights, but for those who prefer a brawnier choco-experience, we recommend the "Terrapin." CEO Herb Kohler, you see, one day decided that "the world deserved a better turtle", and his chefs went to work. After a long period of trial-and-error, they came up with a multi-layered pecan-and-caramel contraption that is utterly satisfying. If those poor old Whitman's Sampler turtles are the local muni, the Terrapin is Whistling Straits.
