At this week’s PGA Championship, many players will be reunited with long-neglected clubs during this drive, pitch and putt era: long irons, hybrids and fairway woods.
Those clubs no doubt will get plenty of use at Hazeltine National Golf Club, which stretches 7,674 yards and is the longest course to ever host a major championship.
As you watch Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Alvaro Quiros and other bombers play the Robert Trent Jones Sr./Rees Jones design/redesign, we count down the 10 longest courses in major history.
Going down the list, keep in mind that there are some major hosts waiting in the wings that can stretch to 8,000 yards. So don't be surprised if Hazeltine’s reign is short-lived.
