2. Bobby Jones, 1930

The day after returning from Great Britain with his British Amateur and Open trophies, Jones left for Interlachen to try and capture the third leg of the “impregnable quadrilateral” against the strongest field of the year in 90-degree-plus July weather. With America listening to the first live radio broadcast of the U.S. Open, Jones won the championship for the fourth time. He completed his historic sweep of the majors that September at Merion.
