Augusta National Golf Club

Augusta, Ga.

Dwight D. Eisenhower is the president, of course, most closely associated with the home of the Masters, where both a cabin and a tree are named after him. He made 45 trips to the club after becoming a member in 1948. But it’s a visit by Ronald Reagan in October 1983 that made the most national news when a gunman crashed his pickup through a locked gate and demanded to speak with him. He held five people hostage in the pro shop for 21 hours before surrendering.
