Tour Worthy
The new X-Tour Wedges eschew Callaway’s typical game-improvement features for the same elegant, compact design one comes to expect from a Cleveland wedge—no surprise, considering they were designed by Roger Cleveland himself, with input from Phil Mickelson.
Both low and mid-handicap testers praised the X-Tour wedges, which have a slight heft that encourages feel. But Callaway didn’t wholly commit to subtley—the “Mack Daddy” grooves maximize spin. “From 60 yards and in, the feedback was unbelievably precise,” says an 8. “It gave me the confidence to be aggressive, because I knew the ball would stop on a dime.”
Callaway X-Tour Wedges:
Bottom Line: Classic design, outstanding feel and first-rate performance make these wedges a serious alternative to perennial tour favorites Cleveland and Vokey.
Retail Price: $1350 satin finish, $1500 vintage finish
