Nike Golf Sumo2
HANDICAP: Mid (10-19)
Testers either love or hate the Sumo2, which stands for “super moment of inertia.” Between the square shape and clanky sound, there’s a lot to get used to. Thankfully, the performance is immediate.

“At first, I wasn’t sure about the design,” says an 11. “But if a club performs, I don’t care what it looks or sounds like.” The boxy design, which utilizes multi-material construction and a composite crown, allowed designers to place weight as far as possible from the face—the key to high MOI, which Nike claims is the highest in golf.

It certainly is the loudest—the club’s only drawback. “The sound wakes you up better than a cup of coffee,” says a 15, “but it really feels like the ball jumps off the club. You can swing as hard as you like and know you’ll hit it straight.”
