HB-001 Hybrid
Long popular with tour pros, Sonartec introduces their newest hybrid
Long known for its fairway woods that are a favorite of tour pros, Sonartec made news three years ago with the MD hybrid, which Todd Hamilton used—off the tee and around the greens—to win the 2004 British Open. The MD’s successor, the HB-001, offers comparable performance, but with a more rounded shape at address that should appeal to traditionalists. Another difference is the acoustics.

“The HB has a more satisfying sound at impact—a higher-pitched ping,” says a 5 who has had an MD in his bag for years. “It felt as if the ball jumped off the face more.” Adds a 7: “The club worked well from all lies and I could hit it low or high. If I were playing in a one-club tournament, this is the club I would take. You can do anything with it.”
