Srixon I-506 irons

|
HANDICAP: Low (0-9)
|
This is the club that helped Jim Furyk rise to No. 2 in the world. The Srixon
I-506 looks like a classic blade. But underneath the thin top line, minimal
offset and smallish head, the I-506’s heavy sole weighting gives the club a nice
heft and helps get the ball up quickly and easily. It did the job so well that
the ball flight surprised our testers. “I hit some 6-irons on the range,” says
an 8, “and the ball flew so high that I had to make sure I hadn’t picked up a
9-iron by mistake.” Even long irons fly high, thanks to a
center of gravity that moves back from the face progressively through the set.
“You can really feel the head and the ball flies high,” says a scratch. “I just
wouldn’t use them in the winds of west Texas or in Scotland.”
