Titleist AP1

The AP1 is a good crossover club that may appeal to mid handicappers

By: Tom Cunneff

Titleist’s AP irons are the most technologically advanced clubs the company has ever made. So much so that while the cast AP1 provides the kind of feel and feedback low handicappers need, they provide enough forgiveness for even mid handicappers. (The forged AP2 is smaller with thinner lines.)

Distance was impressive, thanks to strong lofts. “Despite the thick sole, I never felt like the club got caught up in the turf, which happens a lot with clubs with larger heads,” says an 8. “And the forgiveness was impressive. Thin and toe hits were hard to distinguish.”

MSRP: $1125 (graphite shafts); $900 (steel); 3–PW
