It’s rare that a pair of golf shoes excites me, but you might say I’m head over heels for the new adidas Tour360 4.0. Not only is the shoe extremely comfortable right out of the box, but the footing is noticeably improved from my other shoes because you feel so close to the turf.
The key is a proprietary low-profile outsole that is 32 percent lower than industry standard. By working closely with Pride Sports, the maker of SoftSpikes, adidas was able to create an ultra-thin cleat-attachment system. The result gives the player a lower center of gravity for better stability, better footwork and, ultimately, better ball striking.
In fact, this is adidas’ most stable golf shoe ever, which is saying something given how long they’ve been in the business. A unibody construction connects the heel counter with the outsole as well as with the “360Wrap” technology in the shape of adidas’ distinctive three stripes that extend from the shoelaces on one side and around the bottom to the laces on the other side.
Other key features include 100% waterproof protection, a polyurethane sock liner for cushioning and comfort, especially in the heel, and an abrasion resistant toe. It also has a “gusseted” tongue. I have no idea what that means but all I know is that it doesn’t move no matter how long you wear the shoe.
And if there’s one thing I hate, it’s wagging tongues.
