Axis 1 Putter

The first perfectly balanced putter, this radical design might just radically help your putting

By: Tom Cunneff

No doubt you've performed that experiment with your putter where you balance the shaft on your fingertip to see if the model is face-balanced or toe-heavy. Problem is, you don't putt with the head in either position. You putt with the toe up and the face perpendicular to the target line.

The Axis 1 finds that position naturally by placing a heel weight ahead of the face, thereby keeping the center of gravity exactly in line with the axis of the shaft and sweetspot on the face. It's the first putter to be both shaft- and face-balanced, eliminating the tendency to twist open during the stroke.

With its oddly shaped, serpentine hosel, the Axis 1 takes a little while getting used to, but there's nothing strange about the feel of the putter. It just seems to want to swing itself and the ball comes off the face very true.

Hearing the ball drop time and time again can make any putter look good.
