Galen Hall Golf Club, 15th holeWernersville, Pa. Although A.W. Tillinghast removed the island green at Baltusrol when he expanded the New Jersey club’s 18 holes to 36, he had designed a moat hole of his own at Galen Hall just the year before. The 15th is widely believed to have the oldest island green, and the 10-foot-wide moat is four to 10 feet below the circular green, catching all but the most solid tee shots.
