With the Jack Nicklaus-designed Champion Course at PGA National averaging more than three strokes over par on Sunday during the windswept final round, only five players in the field broke par. One of them was 2012 U.S. Open runner-up Michael Thompson, who fired a 69 to finish two shots ahead of Geoff Ogilvy and well ahead of several other challengers with major championship credentials. It was Thompson’s first PGA Tour victory.
