The exclusive, old-money enclave near Beverly Hills is famous for not catering to the Hollywood crowd like every other club in town. Ronald Reagan was given an honorary membership, but he had to become governor of California first. Though he was a pretty decent weekend golfer when he was an actor, after becoming a politician, “The Gipper” limited his play mostly to New Year’s Eve outings on one of LACC’s two layouts, which includes the famous North course, which Gil Hanse recently renovated.
