Ponte Vedra Inn & Club (Ocean), 9th holePonte Vedra Beach, Fla. This hole features one of the first island greens ever built. Lacking today’s earthmoving machines, architect Herbert Strong used teams of mules to dredge lagoons and build the green. Pete Dye was familiar with the course and Ponte Vedra's 9th hole no doubt was on his mind as he was building TPC Sawgrass, just up the road.
