With 23 rookies in the field at Waialae Country Club, only 23-year-old Russell Henley was able to shake the butterflies and control his nerves to become the first player in 12 years to win in his debut as a PGA Tour rookie. Henley finished with five straight birdies to shoot 29 on the back nine in the final round, posting a 63, the lowest finish ever by a Sony Open winner. His 24-under total of 256 was the third-best 72-hole tournament score in PGA Tour history
