On May 6 Fred Couples was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Florida. He’s not this year’s only inductee—Ken Venturi, Colin Montgomerie, Willie Park Jr., and Ken Schofield were enshrined—but chances are he’s the only one having a special shirt made in his honor.
If you’re a fan of Fred’s—and who isn’t?—you know he’s been wearing Ashworth shirts since the brand launched 25 years ago. Both player and attire exhibit a laid-back style that has evolved over the years but remained in fashion. And this limited-edition Fred Couples Signature shirt fits into that tradition.
Ashworth is making 300 of these shirts, each individually numbered (with Fred getting number one). They come in only one color—his favorite, azure blue—and are made of the company’s performance fabric, called EZ-TEC2. Fred’s signature is on the inside and the top button is secured with green thread in honor of his 1992 Masters victory.
If only they came with that long, languid swing.
