Bath
County, Virginia, is a land as rich in history as it is in natural wonders. For
generations families have come to partake of a place where life’s cadence
continues to follow nature’s gentler rhythms with stays at the luxurious
accommodations of The Homestead resort. Now that lifestyle is available for
future generations through the unique, conservation-based, second-home vacation
community of Homestead Preserve.
Situated on 11,500 acres of
pristine mountain and valley landscape between Hot Springs and Warm Springs,
Homestead Preserve offers a great variety of home settings, from 360-degree
mountain vistas to rolling meadows that recall an English countryside. Homesites
range from 1⁄2 to 13 acres. Prices range from $330,000 to over $1 million. While
home exteriors will be true to the area’s traditional architectural vernacular,
featuring such styles as “Highlands Farmhouse,” “Highlands Classical,”
“Highlands Arts and Crafts,” and “English Romantic,” the interiors will be
compatible with the very latest in ‘smart home’ technology. Home prices range
from $1 million to over $4 million +.
In addition, each Homestead
Preserve family will have the opportunity to enjoy a membership in the Homestead
Golf and Tennis Club. The Homestead dates back to 1766 and remains one of the
true “grand dames” of American luxury resorts. The resort’s three golf courses
are consistently ranked among Golf Digest’s and Golf Magazine’s top 50 courses
and includes The Cascades course, designed by William S. Flynn, which opened in
1923. The Old Course, opened in 1892 and later finished by Donald Ross in 1913,
enjoys the distinction of having the oldest first tee in continuous use in
America. The Lower Cascades features the work of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Also
included in the membership is access to recreational activities such as
falconry, skeet shooting, horseback riding, and skiing. Similarly, landholders
have access to private treatment rooms at The Homestead’s full-service Spa, an
array of year-round outdoor activities and to the resort’s signature restaurants
and fine dining.
Needs of the community's residents are met by Hot
Spring's Main Street stores, including a 150-year-old apothecary. Local
restauranteurs serve every culinary delight - from hearty American hamburgers
and steaks at Sam Snead's Tavern to European-inspired (but distinctively
Southern-inflected) haute cuisine at The Homestead. Owners will also enjoy the
private community amenities featured at the historic Old Dairy Community Center
featuring swimming pools, fitness center, kids club, market, and event and
meeting space. This protected preserve will be a
haven for vacation homeowners seeking immediate proximity to nature in a
community dedicated to land conservation. The sale of 9,250 acres to The Nature
Conservancy helps insure that at least 97% of the 11,500 acres surrounding the
historic Homestead resort will remain unspoiled and untouched. The Virginia Hot
Springs Preservation Trust, funded through a portion of the selling price of
each homesite, will continue to preserve not only the historical landscape but
also the unique culture that already exists through a series of
forums.
Homestead Preserve is located within a days’ drive from some of
our nation’s largest metropolitan areas including New York City, Philidelphia,
Baltimore, Washington D.C., Richmond, Raleigh, Atlanta, and
Charleston.
