Where
Greens Meet Blues
Jamaica’s white sand beaches, turquoise waters and
towering palm trees have traditionally been the backdrop for a serene island
vacation where relaxation takes precedence over one’s short game. Not so in
Montego Bay’s most prestigious enclave, Rose Hall, where the
internationally-acclaimed White Witch, Cinnamon Hill and Half Moon golf courses
offer some of the world’s most impressive golf experiences. Membership to the
Rose Hall Golf Association and preferred access to these courses can be
experienced at The Palmyra Resort & Spa at Rose Hall, the first luxury
beachfront condo hotel in Jamaica. Located next to the famed Ritz-Carlton® on 16
acres of pristine waterfront land in Montego Bay, The Palmyra offers an
exclusive club lifestyle complete with a 42,000 sq. ft. E’SPA, private beach
club and entrée to three golf courses that meander through the lush mountainside
and follow the curves of the Caribbean Sea.
The White Witch course was recently
named the No.1 golf course in the world for its staff and service and the No.1
golf course in the Caribbean in the June 2004 issue of Conde Nast Traveler.
Designed by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril, the White Witch is as stunningly
beautiful as it is challenging, it offers panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea
from 16 of the 18 holes.
Just up the road is Cinnamon Hill. Built on what
used to be a 400-acre sugar plantation, Cinnamon Hill meanders through the lush
mountains and out to the coast where players are close enough to the ocean to
feel the sea spray on their faces. Originally designed by Hank Smedley, and
revamped in 2001 by von Hagge and Baril, Cinnamon Hill was designed with the
resort player in mind with its beach-sweeping front nine and the back nine
snaking up into the mountains, offering a vast array of fabulous mountain,
island and ocean views.
The three exquisite ways to say “Fore” at The
Palmyra is completed by Half Moon Golf Club, a championship course originally
designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and being renovated by famed golf course
designer Roger Rulewich. A member of Jack Nicklaus’ “Great Golf Resorts of the
World,” Half Moon has hosted a number of tournaments including the Jamaica Open
Golf Championship, the Dunhill Cup Final of the Americas and the Red Stripe
Pro-Am.
The Palmyra – Beyond Golf
Situated on oceanfront land at the
5,000-acre Rose Hall estate, The Palmyra gives its residents and guests the
opportunity to choose from the very best amenities available. The Palmyra ESPA,
a five-star, 42,000-square foot spa, is a destination in itself for pampering
and rejuvenation. Additionally, The Palmyra offers a fitness center and
beachside amenities including cabanas, restaurant service and access to
adventure gear for snorkeling, kayaking and more. All needs and requests by
residents are taken care of by a personal concierge at The Palmyra.
