Fabulous Island Adventure Awaits At Bald Head Island Club. Bald Head Island Club provides one of the most unique golf experiences on the East Coast. Situated on a beautiful barrier island accessible by private boat or passenger ferry departing from Southport, NC, the course offers breathtaking ocean views, superb design and an overall experience that you'll long remember. The Bald Head Island Club features a modern clubhouse and pro shop. After your round of golf enjoy a delicious meal in the club’s restaurant and a refreshing drink in the bar. Overnight accommodations are available, both on-island and off in the nearby coastal village of Southport. Bald Head Island Club is a member of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, so you can stay with any Golf Holiday member hotel and have them include the Bald Head Island course in your golf package. Bald Head Island is more than the home of a great golf course. It is also the home of great family vacations. Bald Head Island presents the ultimate in laid-back vacations - a place for fathers to teach their children about fishing and crabbing, a place for oyster roasts and barbecues, for hot coffee on the beach in the morning, and a cold beer on the porch in the afternoon. The Bald Head Island Club features tennis courts and a world-class croquet greensward. Lessons are available for both. This is real, tournament-class croquet – and home to one of the most active Croquet Clubs in America. Since there are no cars on the island, only golf carts, Bald Head Island is a jogger’s and bicycler’s paradise. You can rent a canoe and explore the thousands of acres of tidal marshes and creeks that adjoin the island. Ever had trouble getting a kite into the air? Not here. There’s usually a steady, cooling breeze blowing off the ocean. Birdwatchers and animal spotters better ring some binoculars and extra note pads if they want to keep track of the varieties of birds, deer, raccoons, squirrels, and other wildlife that live next door. Alligators can be seen partially submerged in some of the freshwater lagoons near the golf course. Sometimes they will sun themselves on the grassy shoreline near the lakes (they're not tame, so use your telephoto lens). Bald Head Island is a prime nesting ground for sea turtles. At certain times of the year you can watch the eggs hatch and see the baby turtles scramble for the ocean. The island has 14 miles of unspoiled beaches. Because the river and the ocean meet at Bald Head Island, the surf fishing can be fantastic. On any given day, swimmers can find a beach with regular waves, small waves, or no waves. Or stick with the pool near your accommodations. Temporary Club Members can use the Olympic-size pool near the club. There are all kinds of recreational programs for the kids.
