The Sea Pines Resort
Located on Hilton Head Island, The Sea Pines Resort is seeped in Lowcountry beach traditions and gracious hospitality. With the charm of a marina village, the 5200-acre resort encompasses ocean-side villa retreats, the AAA Four-Diamond luxury Inn at Harbour Town and beachfront cottages and homes.

The Sea Pines Resort has brought fame to the area with its legendary PGA Tournament, the MCI Heritage. With 54 holes of awe-inspiring golf encompassing Lowcountry landscapes of lagoons and salt-riddled marshes, The Sea Pines Resort offers a mix of play that is challenging for both the skilled golfer as well as the casual weekend player.

Awarded the heralded Silver Medal by Golf Magazine – reserved for a handful of the  “Best Golf Resorts in America” – The Sea Pines Resort extends to guests privileges on three championship golf courses, pro shop, driving ranges and putting greens, as well as offering world-class instruction from PGA Touring Professionals.

Ranked the number one course in South Carolina, Harbour Town Golf Links offers 18 memorable holes, including the celebrated 18th overlooking the Calibogue Sound and candy-striped lighthouse. The legendary 6,973-yard course, re-engineered in 2002 by Pete Dye (the original architect of the famed course with Jack Nicklaus in 1969) serves as the innovative masterpiece of The Sea Pines Resort. Called “nothing short of a work of art” by Sports Illustrated magazine, Harbour Town Golf Links combines both a spectacular setting and a strategically demanding layout, offering a sometimes ego-humbling experience.

In addition to the Harbour Town Golf Links, The Sea Pines Resort is home to the Ocean Course, the first golf course on Hilton Head Island. Built in 1962, Mark McCumber redesigned this course in 1995 with an emphasis on traditional and classic principles of design. A combination of lagoons, bunkers and contouring creates a contemporary 6,906-yard course that has been awarded the “Beginner Friendly” Certification from the National Golf Course Owners Association.

A complement to the Ocean Course is the par-72 Sea Marsh Course, also “Beginner Friendly” certified and designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The course features the “Mini-Marsh,” a novice-friendly layout with a junior set of tees, making it ideal for family play. The entire course twists and turns through Spanish moss-draped oaks and overhanging firs, which seize the wayward shot. While the course is comparatively short, challenges abound when prevailing winds factor into the equation.

The 54 holes of golf are just a hint of the numerous amenities offered to guests at The Sea Pines Resort. Heralded as one of the “World’s Best Places to Stay” by Condé Nast Traveler, The Sea Pines Resort is seeped in southern traditions, encompassing peaceful Lowcountry landscapes and five miles of sweeping Atlantic beaches. The first eco-planned community in the world, The Sea Pines Resort exemplifies themes of sustaining and preserving the natural environment throughout its 5,200 acres.

Exploring the enchanted 605-acre Forest Preserve on horseback or an afternoon hayride takes guests past the Heritage Farm, Old Lawton Field and the Wildflower Meadow. For aquatic diversions, sea kayaking allows families to discover Lowcountry salt marshes and wildlife such as the swooping Great White Heron or Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin.

For tennis aficionados, The Sea Pines Resort is home to world-class tennis facilities on 23 clay courts. Ranked number two for tennis programming in the U.S. by Tennis Magazine, former Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion Stan Smith oversees the elite tennis facility at The Sea Pines Resort. Setting the standard for diverse tennis programming for adults and juniors, programs range from round robins and doubles clinics to drills and “Little Tennis” for junior players.

Accommodations range from ocean-side villa retreats and the Four-Diamond Inn at Harbour Town -- a 2005 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List winner --to beachfront cottages and homes. The Inn at Harbour Town provides refreshingly personal Four-Diamond accommodations. Reminiscent of a European boutique hotel, the Inn features an English Butler Staff, Frette linens and marble appointed bathrooms.

Whether pedaling along 14 miles of winding, magnolia draped nature trails, exploring the unspoiled Atlantic coastline or enjoying an afternoon on the legendary Harbour Town Golf Links, unforgettable memories are celebrated at The Sea Pines Resort.
