In a tightly contested match held at Milwaukee Country Club on its revered Colt - Alison designed course, the USA team, led by career amateurs Marvin Giles III, William Hyndman III, Dick Siderowf, and Dr. Ed Updegraff, narrowly defeated a solid team led by playing captain Michael Bonallack. The margin of victory for the Americans was 10 – 8.
