Perched at 2,300 feet above sea level in mountain foothills at the base of a ridge, the rugged Robert Trent Jones-designed course at this attractive state park facility qualifies as the Mountain State’s finest muni. Three ponds, bubbling brooks, sharp elevation changes, and more than 70 well-placed bunkers provide plenty of challenge on this 6,827-yard gem, which boasts a 100-yard-wide double green at the fourth and eighth holes. Rates are $30 Monday–Thursday, $35 Friday–Sunday. Shared cart is $14.50 per rider. Stay-and-play packages at on-site Cacapon Lodge are also available.
