3. Colbert Hills Golf Course

Kansas State University
Manhattan, Kan.

In addition to donating $500,000 to build the course that bears his name, Kansas State alumnus Jim Colbert teamed with Jeffrey Brauer to design the course, which opened in 2000. The big, brawny 7,525-yard layout sits on a former ranch and moves up and down the natural undulations of the prairie. In addition to being one of the best courses in Kansas, Colbert Hills serves as a facility for Kansas State’s renowned turfgrass management program.
