6. Taconic Golf Club

Williams College
Williamstown, Mass.

Compactly routed, the 6,640-yard Taconic Golf Club is reminiscent of a quaint New England village like the one in which it is sited. Although the Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek layout dating from 1927 looks harmless on the card, it plays longer and does not yield low scores easily. An ongoing restoration project by Gil Hanse will expand the greens, add yardage, increase fairway width, restore bunkers and remove trees.
