In Sam's Footsteps

The 18 most historic golf courses on the PGA Tour

Few sports cherish their past the way golf does. We do our best to preserve the memories and legacies of players like Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Arnold Palmer, who have done so much to shape the game and lead us to where we are today.

Although there are new courses being built every year, the PGA Tour does a good job of returning to historic layouts, such as the host of the Wyndham Championship. Sedgefield Country Club is a Donald Ross gem on which Snead set several Tour records that still stand.

Here is our exclusive slideshow of the 18 oldest, most historic courses on the PGA Tour. These are the courses on which today's great players can truly appreciate the achievements of the game's legends.
