Every golfer has done it at some point. How many times have you looked out an airplane window during landing, scanning the ground below for the unmistakable outlines of golf holes near the airport?
And how many times have you sat in an airport terminal, wishing you were killing time on a golf course instead? Well, the next time your travels take you through 25 of the biggest airports in the country, you may want to build in a long layover to tee it up at a nearby course.
You may not be able to play on the grounds of the airport itself, the way you can at Bear Creek Golf Club inside DFW, the gateway to the two-week stretch at the heart of the PGA Tour's Texas Swing: the HP Byron Nelson Championship (TPC Las Colinas, pictured) and the Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.
But by taking our advice and with a little planning, you can make air travel fun again at the following 25 airports.
