Located just across Rae’s Creek, this Donald Ross design predates Augusta National by nine years, while the club itself dates to 1899. In 2001, Brian Silva restored the 6,947-yard course to its original specs with the help of Ross' pencil-sketch drawings and remarks provided by the Tufts Archive in Pinehurst. Members like Charles Howell III love the random bunkering, quick and undulating bentgrass greens, and the need to hit approaches in the correct places to avoid nightmarish chip shots.
