Scotland is the universally acknowledged birthplace of golf. It is where the game is considered a birthright, and it is home to the oldest courses, clubs and championships in the world.
Although Scottish golf has plenty of tradition and history, that doesn't mean the country's golf landscape has remained unchanged. In fact, there have been plenty of new courses built in the past 20 years, bringing new options for courses—on linksland, heathland and parkland—to the home of golf.
Many of these new layouts have taken their place next to classics like the Old Course, Muirfield and Turnberry as must-play courses for locals and visitors alike.
