La Costa Resort & Spa

Carlsbad, Calif.

The stylish SoCal resort recently underwent a comprehensive $50 million renovation, which included a freshening up of the two Dick Wilson golf courses by the team of Steve Pate, Damian Pascuzzo and Jeff Brauer. In an interview with LINKS' James Frank, Pascuzzo said the most significant changes were to the fairway bunkering. “[Wilson] built really big bunkers with dramatic visual impact. We wanted to keep that but we moved some bunkers to make it much more risk-reward.” Another noteworthy addition is a new set of Family Tees, designed to make La Costa accessible to neophyte golfers of all ages.
