Set along the curved shore of Carmel Bay, Pebble’s 18th is universally regarded as the most spectacular finishing hole in the game. Very few golf holes entwine beauty and challenge quite like this ineluctable right-to-left dogleg. Behind the tee, mist rises from distant Big Sur and sea otters frolic in thick strands of kelp. Looking ahead, golfers face shelves of weathered rock and breaking ocean waves to the left of the fairway. Beckoning in the far distance is a tilted green that sits a few feet above the high tide mark and is pinched by deep trench bunkers.
