Arguably the finest one-two punch of public-access golf in New England, Pinehills, located between Boston and Cape Cod, offers a pair of superb venues punctuated by rolling hills, sandy soil, and glacial landforms. The Rees Jones Course has plateau fairways routed along ridges that lead to large, subtly contoured greens defended by sculpted bunkers and steep spill-offs. The Nicklaus Course, equally appealing, occupies flatter ground, its holes flanked by tall white pines, deep kettle holes, and abandoned cranberry bogs. Both the twilight rate (after 2 p.m.) and replay rate, good for either course, is $65 Monday—Thursday, $75 Friday—Sunday. For brisk players, the super twilight rate (after 4 p.m.) is a steal at $45.
