“Winter Holidays and Miracle on 24th Street” is the theme at this self-proclaimed “Jewel of the Desert,” a landmark property that dates to 1929. A stylized fortress faced with ornamental blocks fired on site, the Biltmore’s architecture was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. (The hotel itself inspired famed song composer Irving Berlin to pen White Christmas while sitting poolside at the hotel). In addition to a red mailbox and Santa letter writing station in the hotel lobby, December events at the Biltmore range from Holiday Tea (an 83-year-old afternoon tradition) and marshmallow roasting on the Squaw Peak Lawn, to complimentary wine tastings and Story Times with Mrs. Santa Claus. Multi-course Christmas dinners are available Dec. 24–25 at Wright’s, the resort’s signature dining venue; and Frank & Albert’s, a more casual restaurant featuring eclectic regional cuisine. Golf can be played on the resort’s Adobe and Links courses.
