Belek, Turkey

Surprise your friends: Be the first one in your foursome to tee it up in Turkey, the legendary East-West crossroads linking Europe and Asia. Turkey’s southern coast, fronting the Mediterranean Sea, was a well-established Roman outpost nearly 2,000 years ago, with several well-preserved archaeological sites worth seeing. An hour’s drive from the ancient fortified port city of Antalya is the resort area of Belek, which offers more than a dozen resort courses carved into rolling, sandy terrain covered in umbrella pines and eucalyptus trees and set below the snow-capped Taurus Mountains. Tops among them is Nick Faldo’s 27-hole design at Cornelia Golf Club.
