Seventy miles west of Denver is Summit County and its stellar collection of ski resorts. The slopes are great, but so are the region’s high-altitude golf courses, a few of them routed at over 9,000 feet above sea level. Among the top Front Range facilities are Keystone Resort (36 holes), Breckenridge (a 27-hole muni by Jack Nicklaus), and Raven at Three Peaks. Heading further west into Vail Valley, there’s Cordillera (54 holes), Red Sky Ranch (36 holes) Sonnenalp, and Beaver Creek. In addition to a plethora of outdoor activities, from rock climbing and river rafting to scenic chairlift rides, Vail hosts music, drama, and dance festivals all summer long.
