Golden Isles

Home to the McGladrey Classic and to a whole host of PGA Tour pros, Georgia’s Golden Isles offer spectacular oceanside settings and equally enticing golf vacation packages

Must be something in the water surrounding Georgia’s Golden Isles.

The four barrier islands, midway between Savannah, Georgia, and Jacksonville, Florida, have lured a disproportionate number of PGA Tour players to make these beautiful islands home.

At the head of the list of notable pros is 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III, who grew up on these islands and honed his skills under the watchful eye of his world famous golf instructor dad. (View new video about Davis Love III and the Golden Isles here.)

Fellow touring pros Zach Johnson, Jonathan Byrd, Matt Kuchar, Charles Howell III, Lucas Glover, and Chris Kirk all have chosen to live here.

Part of the draw, of course, is that St. Simons Island, Sea Island, and Jekyll Island form one of the most spectacular and acclaimed golf getaways on the East Coast.

Then there’s the area’s astonishing beauty, nearly perfect year-round golf weather, and all that genuine Southern hospitality.

Individually, each of the islands stands on its own as a worthy golf destination. But taken together, they offer 198 holes on some of the country’s most widely acclaimed and legendary courses. Add in luxurious accommodations and the neighboring historic port city of Brunswick, and you’ve got as rich a golf vacation as you can imagine.

You are probably already familiar with some of the Golden Isles’ charm from the annual fall broadcast of the PGA Tournament, the McGladrey Classic. Hosted by Davis Love III, the event features incredible field strength, which in 2011 included 14 Major winners.

In the fall of 2013, look for the McGladrey Classic which will be held on November 4–10 at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside course on St. Simons Island.

You can discover all the charms of these islands and play where the pros play (and live) through one of the great packages they are offering. Visit to plan your trip or call (800) 933-2627 or (912) 265-0620.
