SPOTLIGHT When it opened in 1964, Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s Mauna Kea course set a new standard for golf in Hawaii. It featured several oceanfront holes, including the famous 3rd, which features a long carry over water. The Hapuna course may not sit along the water, but its elevation—700 feet above the shore—provides panoramic views of the countryside and ocean.
