Fab Five

Here are the five best golf properties from each chain:

Four Seasons

Great Exuma at Emerald Bay
It’s hard to go wrong with brilliant blue Bahamian waters, ivory sand beaches and Four Seasons comforts. Add a Greg Norman golf course with six holes on a rocky peninsula overlooking Emerald Bay and you’ll know you’ll return.

Hualalai
Sitting soft on the Kona-Kohala coast of the Big Island, this hotel is one of the world’s most gracious and rejuvenating resorts. The Nicklaus course is solid, but beware when the trade winds are blowing.

Lanai, Lodge at Koele
The Lodge has the appearance and feel of a grand Victorian-era manor from the South Pacific of your dreams. Its tranquil gardens and 18-hole bentgrass putting course are as perfect as the cool mountaintop weather.

Lanai, Manele Bay
A great beach, fantastic snorkeling trips, dolphins that swim with guests, and Hawaii’s most memorable golf course make Manele Bay one of the state’s greatest secrets.

Punta Mita, Mexico
Half an hour from historic Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita practically embraces the white sands and blue Pacific waters that surround it.
The island green gets all the hype, but the rest of Jack’s work on the course is superb.

Ritz-Carlton

Kapalua
Maui’s best golf resort sits on a hillside looking out on Kapalua Bay and the island of Molokai. Reopening in January 2008 after a $110 million renovation, Kapalua is likely to be the Ritziest Ritz of them all.

Lake Las Vegas

Seventeen miles from the Vegas Strip, the resort is practically built on Lake Las Vegas. Adjacent to the hotel, the courses by Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf are two of Nevada’s finest. It’s Vegas for grown-ups.

Grand Cayman
Located right on Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman is a paradise. Norman’s course may be nine holes, but it will likely take more than one visit to get your fill, especially with some of the best snorkeling and diving anywhere.

Half Moon Bay

A short drive south of San Francisco, Half Moon Bay has the look and feel of a great Scottish golf resort. The links-style, Arthur Hills-designed Ocean course offers ocean views from every hole, and a splendid 18th winds along the high bluff.

Reynolds Plantation
A boutique, less formal Ritz, the hotel boasts 81 holes on the shores of Georgia’s Lake Oconee. With the serene lake and tall pines, there’s a tranquil feeling about this place.
