Moon Palace (Lakes/Jungle)

Created to blend with the site’s lush vegetation, this Jack Nicklaus design south of Cancun, a former host of the Mexican Open, is hemmed in by thick jungle, natural wetlands and vast waste bunkers dotted with small grassy islands. While the elevation change on the club’s core 18 is modest, dirt was moved to create some gentle movement from tee to green. Among the standout holes is No. 6 on the Jungle nine. This drivable par four doglegs sharply to the right over sand and water to a sprawling, tilted green. Golfers share the course with iguanas, crocodiles, and coatis, which resemble a cross between a raccoon and a monkey. Moon Palace (Lakes/Jungle)
