Point Lobos State Reserve

A 1,250-acre wildlife refuge located south of Carmel, this stunning mosaic of granite headlands, scalloped coves, and wildflower-flecked meadows has hiking trails, picnic areas, and steep wooden staircases that lead down to secluded beaches. From December through May, migrating gray whales spout and dive offshore. A large portion of the reserve is an undersea marine park open to certified scuba divers.
