Heralded by visits from Santa Claus to the resort’s Christmas House Shoppe, this landmark “Riviera of the Rockies,” an Italianate palace set in the foothills below Cheyenne Mountain, celebrates the holidays in grand style. As part of an annual tradition called the “White Lights Ceremony,” more than 250,000 strands of lights were lit on Nov. 25 to brighten the grounds of the elegant, pale pink hotel and signal the start of The Broadmoor’s holiday season. On selected dates from Dec. 14–24, the Classic Broadmoor Christmas Dinner Show, a heart-warming entertainment for the entire family, will be staged. Golf is available at the 54-hole property (weather permitting), notably on the Donald Ross-designed East Course, though ice skating, spa-going, and fine dining are the activities of choice during the holiday season.
