Haversham & Baker Golfing Expeditions has arranged for matches to be played between American country club members and members of Gleneagles in Scotland on the 2014 Ryder Cup venue. The matches will pit from eight to 20 members of a single U.S. club against an equal number of Gleneagles members prior to the arrival of the Ryder Cup in September, 2014. The exclusive program features a three-night stay at Gleneagles Hotel, golf on both the Ryder Cup venue and the famed King’s Course, and a prize-giving dinner. The matches are designed to be part of a custom-designed stay-and-play package. Prices start at $4,500 per golfer depending on other Scottish courses and accommodations selected.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Gold Course at Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Virginia, a “Golden Golf Package” is being offered through Dec. 31. The two-night program, priced at $189 per person, per night at the Williamsburg Lodge, includes one round of golf per player per night’s stay, complimentary reply rounds, complimentary Callaway club rentals, free yardage book, and other extras. The Gold Course, designed in 1963 by Robert Trent Jones Sr., rolls through mature woodlands within a lovely arboretum. Package rates for other lodging entities at Colonial Williamsburg are available, as is play on the club’s Green Course and Spotswood 9-hole executive course.

Are you a golfer and a tree-hugger? The International Sustainability Council and Audubon Lifestyles (ISC-Audubon) have launched an EcoGolfer League aimed at boosting player awareness of environmental conservation and sustainability on and beyond the golf course. Member benefits include EcoGolfer News updates, annual subscription to GLOBAL SustainAbility magazine, discounts on EcoGolfer-related outings and purchases, an EcoGolfer bag tag, and other extras. The league’s inaugural event, a celebrity tournament featuring more than 30 TV and film stars plus sport and broadcast notables, is scheduled for April 5–7 at the Westin Diplomat Golf Club in Hollywood, Fla. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Southern Florida Make-A-Wish Foundation. Annual membership dues are $25.

Golfers who want to experience some of Spain’s best courses in the Costa Brava region can now arrive in style via high-speed rail. The latest 131-km branch between Figueres (home of Dali’s Theatre-Museum) and Barcelona completes the 804-km high-speed line between Madrid and the French border. The new rail link complements flights into the region’s two airports, Girona-Costa Brava and Barcelona International. Among the area’s outstanding courses are PGA Catalunya Resort, Golf Girona, Club de Golf Costa Brava, Emporda Golf, and many more. In addition to its rolling, wooded courses set near the Pyrenees, the region is famed for its gastronomy and cultural heritage.

The Inn on Fifth and Club Level Suites in downtown Naples, Fla. has partnered with TPC Treviso Bay to offer an exclusive “Links on Fifth” package through the end of April. Starting at $399 per night, the program includes two nights’ accommodations at The Inn on Fifth, lunch at McCabe’s Irish Pub & Grill, and one round of golf at the otherwise-private TPC Treviso Bay for two, including golf cart. The package can be tailored for additional golfers and groups. The Inn is an easy stroll from the Gulf of Mexico’s white-sand beaches.
