National memberships are currently available at Paramount Country Club in New City, N.Y. 35 minutes from Manhattan. Founded on a private estate in 1920 by Adolph Zukor, head of Paramount Studios, the golf course was designed by A.W. Tillinghast to rival the finest clubs of the day. Last year, the parkland-style layout, framed by rolling hills and rock outcrops, was completely restored by Jim Urbina, a former Tom Doak design associate. The national membership program, for approved golfers who reside more than 50 miles away from New City, entitles players to 20 rounds of golf per season as well as use of the club’s renovated clubhouse, tennis courts, heated swimming pool, dining outlets and other amenities. Dues are $5,000 per season. Special rates for overnight accommodations are available.

Heading South of the Border? Through June 30, guests at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa in Mexico’s Riviera Maya receive 50 percent off golf at Grand Coral, the region’s newest layout. Designed by Nick Price, the 7,043-yard course, set near the Caribbean Sea, is landscaped with colorful native plants and circulates players around a network of lagoons. Located 45 minutes from Cancun, the family-friendly beachfront hotel offers all-inclusive lodging starting at $93 per night, per person. At $82.50 per player, the discounted green fee includes shuttle transportation, golf cart and other extras.With its acquisition last summer of Elkhorn Golf Club, Idaho’s Sun Valley Resort, renowned for its world-class skiing, now boasts 45 holes of golf. In addition to Elkhorn, built in 1974 by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., the resort offers Trail Creek, a traditional 6,968-yard alpine layout by Jones Jr. that weaves around conifers, streams and bunkers; and White Clouds, a 3,605-yard, nine-hole course routed at 6,000 feet above sea level that has panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Through June 11, the Early Birdie Package (lodging, 18 holes of golf with cart) is priced at $119 per person, double occupancy. The Early Summer Package (June 12-22) is $175. Located 40 minutes from Venice, the Hotel Abano Ritz in Italy’s Veneto region at the foot of the Euganean Hills has a special “stay five nights, pay for four” program featuring double classic room accommodations, one green fee at nearby Verona Golf Club, wine tasting at a prestigious Valpolicella winery, access to the spa and gym, and other extras. Through June 20, the price per person is 689 euros. 

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisc., a 1,300-acre property an hour’s drive from Milwaukee, features two of the state’s finest courses, The Brute and The Highlands. The resort’s Stay and Golf Free package offers an overnight stay in one of Grand Geneva’s deluxe guest rooms and two free rounds of golf. This promotion is available through May 31; and Sunday through Wednesday for the remainder of the golf season. Rates start at $159 per night. Looking ahead, June is Women’s Golf Month at Grand Geneva—ladies pay $55 all month long, Monday through Thursday, while dads play for free on Father’s Day, June 17.
