The Pride of Africa, Rovos Rail’s five-star luxury train, visits several of South Africa’s finest golf courses on its nine-day Golf Safari. Designed to conjure the luxurious style of a bygone era, the deluxe rail tour combines world-class golf at Pecanwood, Royal Swazi, Leopard Creek, and others with authentic safari experiences. These include a guided bush walk to view lions in the wild, game drives in famous Kruger Park, and a visit to the exquisite Hluhluwe Reserve in Zululand. This one-of-a-kind journey commences at Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria on Nov. 28 and returns Dec. 6.

The McConnell Golf Trail offers access to eight of the finest private clubs in North and South Carolina, including The Reserve at Pawley’s Island, S.C., a coastal layout by Greg Norman (left); Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., site of the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship; and Raleigh Country Club in Raleigh, N.C., the final creation of Scottish designer Donald Ross. Three-, five- and seven-day programs are available. Peak-season rates are in effect September - October. Off-peak rates offer excellent value from November–March. The Coast to Canyon golf package at The Grand Del Mar in San Diego, Calif. features unlimited play this fall on the resort’s stellar Tom Fazio-designed course, plus a round of golf on Torrey Pines South, the legendary layout routed along coastal bluffs high above the Pacific in nearby La Jolla. In addition to golf, the two-night package includes accommodations at San Diego’s only Forbes Five Star, AAA Five Diamond resort; luxury roundtrip transportation; 19th Hole handcrafted local beers at Club M each day; and daily breakfast. Black Diamond Ranch, the Florida residential golf community featuring 45 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, is offering a stay-and-play package this fall at the premier private club. The one-night Pure Golf Getaway includes accommodations in one of Black Diamond Ranch’s luxury homes; two rounds of golf on its trio of layouts (Quarry, Ranch and Highland), portions of which are chiseled into a wooded limestone quarry; and access to the practice facility and clubhouse. The package starts at $399 per person, based on quad occupancy. The community also offers a Couples Golf Getaway starting at $499 per couple. 

Located north of Victoria, British Columbia, Vancouver Island offers eclectic golf-and-wine itineraries in a region ripe with growers, producers, winemakers and 11 undiscovered courses. The Cowichan Wine and Golf Getaway features rounds at Arbutus Ridge, a lovely seaside course north of Victoria, its fairways surrounded by vineyards; and Duncan Meadows, a rolling parkland layout and former LPGA Tour site set below majestic Mt. Prevost. The program includes a full-day chauffeured winery tour and three nights’ accommodations in scenic Cowichan Bay.
