There’s a good reason they call Walt Disney World the happiest place on Earth. Actually, there are hundreds of reasons, from theme parks to dining to shopping to 81 holes of golf.
Sure, some of the latter reasons are for grownups, but Disney, the largest resort in the world, always has been and will be about kids, for whom the property is the ultimate fantasyland. In addition to myriad attractions at theme parks like Magic Kingdom and Epcot, there are numerous other activities like safaris, watersports, horseback riding, Star Wars weekends and meals with Disney characters. There is so much to do that you could stay for months.
Of course, a family vacation isn’t all about the little people. Parents can take advantage of spas, big-city shopping at Downtown Disney and plenty of nightlife like Cirque du Soleil’s “La Nouba.” Or if you want a break from the sensory overload, how about a romantic meal at Victoria & Albert’s?
Ultimately, a family resort experience is about coming together at the end of the day, and one of the best ways is dinner at the California Grill, located atop the Contemporary Resort. After a first-rate Pacific Rim meal, the real show begins after sunset. The dining room, on the 15th floor, is the perfect vantage point for the nightly fireworks display over Cinderella’s castle at nearby Magic Kingdom.
