Happy Trails

A tour of the 11 stops that make up the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the greatest large-scale public golf project in American history

Retirement and golf go hand-in-hand, but never more so than on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, which was conceived by Dr. David Bronner, CEO of the Retirement Systems of Alabama, to diversify the state's pension fund.

No doubt Dr. Bronner is a golfer, because he also greatly expanded the state's course offerings. After opening in 1992 with 378 holes on eight sites, the Trail has expanded to 11 facilities with a total of 468 holes.
