Founded in 1926, Sara Bay Country Club is a private, member-owned
golf club located just north of downtown Sarasota. The golf course was
designed
by legendary architect Donald Ross, and it is widely recognized as one of Florida's finest classic courses.
The greens at Sara Bay mirror Ross' famous design at Pinehurst No.
2. Brian Silva, a leading expert on Ross designs,
completely
restored
the course
in 1991 and returned
in the fall of 2006
to oversee an extensive renovation that included new tee complexes,
rebuilding of all bunkers, improved drainage, re-grassing of fairways, and conversion of putting surfaces to TifEagle Bermuda. Throughout every facet of
this project, extraordinary care was taken to preserve the integrity of
the
original Ross design.
