The House That Trump Built

Undeterred by pesky neighbors, cantankerous conservationists, impending wind farms, and obstreperous governmental officials, Donald Trump has added to the allure of his Trump International Golf Club with the opening of MacLeod House & Lodge, a luxury boutique hotel adjoining his acclaimed links course on the northeast coast of Scotland near Aberdeen. Trump spent 18 months and several million dollars renovating the imposing gray stone manor once known as Menie House but now renamed for his mother, Mary MacLeod, who was born on Scotland’s Isle of Lewis. Room rates—including bed, breakfast, dinner, and golf on the links—start at about $500 a night.
