The cover story of the next issue of LINKS Magazine (out in a few weeks) is “The New Meccas,” where we’ll tell you about six golf destinations that are hot right now. Well, here’s an even hotter tip on a destination that’s going to be the next New Mecca—Morocco. This year marks the 100th anniversary of golf in Morocco but things are just now heating up, with 40 courses you can play and suddenly 10 more on the way. They’re scattered across all the major cities—Rabat, Casablanca, Fez—but Marrakesh leads the way with five strong courses, including designs by Jack Nicklaus and Kyle Phillips (that's his Al Maaden, above) already in place and four more on the way in 2014. Another hot spot is the beach resort of Agadir, where Phillips is building a seaside stunner at Taghazout Bay that alone may be worth your first golf trip to Africa.
