Rory McIlroy was at Wimbledon for girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki’s first-round match but he’s since departed to play in the Irish Open at Carton House Golf Club near Dublin. Now Wozniacki, the 9th seed, can join him at his tournament after losing in the second round to Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic who’s ranked 196th in the world. But before McIlroy left there was a minor controversy involving another attractive sporting couple, Maria Kirilenko and NHL star Alexnder Ovechkin. Kirilenko, who also had an early exit from Wimbledon, reportedly complained about McIlroy getting to use the players’ gym at the All England Club while Ovechkin was denied entry. A spokesman said Ovechkin would have been allowed in had he had the proper credentials. McIlroy will be competing in his seventh Irish Open and his second at Carton House, having played it in his first Irish Open there at age 16.
